Coaches,
I am extremely disappointed to tell you that the high school coaches winter clinic for Sat., Dec. 13 has been canceled. If you made reservations at Wild Dunes you have time to cancel before you are charged. Also, because of lack of support for the Dunlop fundraiser package it has been canceled as well. I will return the money to the two coaches who registered for that.

I hope the end of the girls season finds you all doing well. I am writing to encourage you, begging you, to attend the 2nd Annual SCTCA Winter Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC December 12-13. Remember as I stated in an earlier email that we are invited to the SC teaching pro's clinic on that Friday and the SCTCA meeting will take place that Sat. You may attend both days or just the SCTCA meeting and clinic.
I just confirmed our clinician for the afternoon clinic. The theme of the clinic has been scheduled to meet the needs of high school coaches. The theme is "A practice for all levels of players". Our association is very lucky to have Dr. Sophie Woorons-Johnston of Anderson, SC presenting. She earned her PhD in Sport Pedagogy from the University of Georgia. All-American for Clemson University and Former World-Ranked WTA player, Sophie now owns and manages the Brookstone Meadows Tennis Club in Anderson, South Carolina. She is a USTA Recreational Coach Workshop National Trainer and a member of the National Cardio Tennis Speakers Team. You do not want to miss this opportunity to pick up some techniques and drills that will make your coaching more successful. Be sure to bring your racket and participate or simply take notes from the sideline.
In the morning our association will be voting on the Girls Coach of the Year and possibility of giving the first girls player of the year award from the SCTCA. In addition to the serious business the SCTCA will be giving away 2 cases of tennis balls to a coach and the drawing for the Dunlop tennis package will be drawn. The drawing for that has been extended and you could be the winner for just $5.00.
I hope to see you in December. Please fill out the attached conference form and mail it in.
Here is the link to the times and other events going on that weekend with the SC USTA meeting. 2008 USTA SC Annual Meeting |
